Birthday wishes to Groot Constantia on their 339th birthday - a special occasion in a very special setting. Groot Constantia is South Africa's oldest wine producing farm, dating back to 1685 and Jean confirms that this was an occasion that needed to be celebrated in a special way.
A vintage tasting in the alcoves under the historic Manor House is designed to take people back over more than a decade in terms of the wine tasting and how their wines taste over time. This is in am historic setting as the Manor House is home to Iziko Museums of South Africa. Having a museum on the farm gives justice to its history and they are fortunate to have Iziko Museums occupying both the manor house and the Cloete Cellars. The manor house focuses on lifestyle over the years. While it is a glamourous setting, the museum covers less glamorous parts of our history to provide a more authentic story.
