Summer Hours At The Waste Drop Off Facilities

The City has extended the summer operating hours of its various waste drop-off facilities.

All residents can drop off general household or garden waste, on any day of the week, at any of the City’s 25 drop-off sites. Up to 1 500kg (1,5 tons) of non-hazardous waste may be disposed at any of these sites, at no cost.

City Encourages Residents To be Tourists This September

This campaign under the established theme ‘Know Your National Parks’ will allow locals with valid identity documents an opportunity to spend a day at a national park of their choice, free of charge.

The Cape Town Green Map has just released its 5th Edition print map as part of its "Green by Design" #WDC2014 initiative.

The Cape Town Green Map (CTGM) provides a comprehensive visual online and printed guide to ‘sustainable’ living in the city, from leisure activities and recycling services, to free listings of ‘green’ businesses, places, organisations and events.
 

New Hiking Trails For Tygerberg Nature Reserve

The City of Cape Town’s Tygerberg Nature Reserve has opened its new Plattekloof entrance and boasts new hiking trails.

The City invites members of the public to come and enjoy the additions to the reserve. As one of more than 16 nature reserves managed by the City, all residents can enjoy this inclusive public open space. Read more below.

Muizenberg Shark Bite Incident Report

The official report on the recent shark bite incident at Muizenberg.

At approximately 14:00 on Friday 1 August 2014, a 20 year old male, Mathew Smithers was bitten by a Great White Shark at Muizenberg Beach while surfing. The victim sustained serious injuries to both his legs.

Joyce is known throughout the world as a  prolific Bead Artist. She would like to realise her lifetime dream to come to South Africa, share her skills with her African sisters and give back to our community.
